Barb Hutson

Barbara Hutson, owner/designer at Staging by Sonoran Accents, has studied and practiced design her entire professional career.  A graduate of Stephens College, Michigan State Univ., and an HSR Certified professional home stager and redesign specialist, Barb has been involved in interior decorating, retail buying, visual display, retail management, and business analysis for over 20 years. 

Her interest in outstanding design is a thread that has run through her life experiences and she says, “is probably inherited from my mother”.  Barb’s passion for good design is partnered with her joy in seeing people’s lives enhanced through the formation of  this  home staging & redesign company, an arm of another  business, Sonoran Accents. 

Sonoran Accents was  formed several years ago by Barb and her husband, Ray.  The original Sonoran Accents creates and produces hand made decorator accent pieces for the home or office using fine art prints, leather, hand made paper, and ceramic tiles.  See: www.sonoranaccents.com.  

Barb’s interests are music, art and sports (world’s greatest spectator!), and traveling with Ray in their RV.  She’s involved in several community organizations, and has spent her adult life in the Washington D.C area, Illinois, Michigan, California, and has now been in Arizona for six happy years. 

Joellyn Machnics

 Joellyn Machnics, Barb’s business partner and designer, has also practiced design her entire adult life.  Joellyn attended the University of Missouri where she studied liberal arts.  Joellyn is an HSR Certified professional home stager and redesign specialist.   In addition to design Joellyn has over 20 years experience in marketing.  Joellyn is a 2nd generation designer and has inherited the family gene  frequently described as a “good eye”.  Her ability to accessorize rounds out Barb’s skills at spacial planning and is the proverbial icing on the cake. 

Joellyn enjoys creative writing and hopes to publish a children’s book someday.  She, too, is involved in several community organizatons and hopes to make lasting contributions to the world.  She enjoys antiquing in her spare time and sees her efforts as recycling and preserving pieces of history. Enjoying and participating in all of the arts has always been an intregral part of her life.  Several years ago Joellyn served as director of a visual art center and coordinated efforts for an eight state regional juried art exhibit, The Great Lakes Regional. Joellyn has lived in Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah, California and Illinois.  She is an Arizona transplant and arrived here from northeastern Ohio in 2005.
